Expat Services offers a range of services to organisations:

Orientation tour (half-day/full day/2 days)

  • Initial contact by e-mail and sending of a "home questionnaire"
  • Welcome at the airport, railway station or hotel
  • General orientation in the city (culture, shopping centres, daily life, sports clubs, etc.)
  • Defining and visiting the residential areas most likely to match your search criteria
  • Introduction to the property market in Geneva and visit to one or two places to live which match your search criteria in order to provide a snapshot of the market

 

Temporary housing search

  • Contact by telephone to define in detail your needs and specific requests in terms of the place to live, budget and length of stay
  • Pick up at your hotel or office to visit preselected places to live
  • Rental contract negotiation with the property agents or owners
  • Management and verification of the lease agreement
  • Assistance in administrative procedures (e.g. bank guarantee)
  • Assistance in opening a bank account and the purchase of public liability insurance
  • Assistance in returning the dwelling to its original state, at the end of your stay and the termination of various contracts


Renting a property

  • Contact by telephone to define in detail your needs and specific requests in terms of the place to live and the rental budget
  • Pick up at your hotel or office to visit preselected places to live
  • Issuing and managing housing applications
  • Negotiation of leases with the property agents/owners
  • Analysis and verification of the lease
  • Assistance in administrative procedures (e.g. issuing a bank guarantee)
  • Assistance in an inventory (surveying and verifying documents)
  • Assistance in installing a telephone line, internet, electricity and other utilities
  • Assistance in opening a bank account and the purchase of public liability insurance
  • Assistance in obtaining a Swiss driving licence
  • Assistance over the phone on weekdays throughout your stay



Visit and registration for children's schooling

  • Outline of the different school systems available : State, private or international schools
  • Identification of the languages your child will use at school
  • Organisation of visits to selected schools (meeting, management, introduction and tailored visit)
  • Assistance in submitting an application for each child

 

Assistance in obtaining a work permit

  • Requisition of all necessary documents (passport, photo, employment contract, proof of residence, form, etc.)
  • Issuing a work permit request to the OCP
  • Advance payment of the application fee for a work permit
  • Sending the complete file to the OCP
  • Follow-up as far as the obtaining of the work permit



Assistance in the family's cultural integration

  • Sending a general introduction in Powerpoint
  • Discussion by Skype or by telephone (about 2 hours)
  • Wide-ranging discussion about health matters, public transport, schooling, shops, daily life in Geneva, culture, useful numbers in case of an emergency, etc.
  • Question-and-answer session on integration and day-to-day life.
